Bio

Personality:
Derek: Derek is a relatively decent guy. He abides by the laws where he can help it, and tries to avoid conflict. He is pretty paranoid when around other people, and is uncomfortable with growing close to people. He tries to do the best he can for his girlfriend and their child, but feels like he's going to destroy them in one way or another one day. He is confident in his own abilities, and keeps a level head in most situations, only losing it after a possession episode. He is smart, and likes games and puzzles, and they tend to calm him after a bad panic attack.
Kaer: Kaer is Derek's inner demon, and she's bloodthirsty at the best of times. She is arrogant, disrespectful, and suave. She pushes thoughts into Derek's head, urging him to act upon his anger or his desires. She claims it will make him happier if he just lets loose and acts more like her. She likes "playing" with her victims, and will subject them to torture if she is able to get them into a place where she won't get caught. She's clever and witty, and likes to laugh at the stupidity of humanity.

Story (Creepypasta): 
A girl tells her story about a very strange man she saw in town. He was kind to those who came to his home, saying little but accepting offers to be with them. He seemed shy and awkward, shifting his weight on his feet often. Later, she talks about how she saw him outside, skipping down the sidewalk. He had something on his sleeves but it was hard to make out in the dark. She talks about various instances where he seemed to just switch, and it seemed very odd to her. A few people had gone missing in town, and she was worried it was the new neighbors causing it. She decided to go talk to him herself, and found very little, aside from a strange music box that he seemed very attached to, kicking her out of his home when she was holding it. They moved away shortly after, but the disappearances didn't stop right away.

Backstory (History):
Derek grew up an average kid, excelling in sports and doing decently in school. He enjoyed playing baseball, and was on the school team for quite some time. He and his father were very close, going to the shooting range occasionally, and playing paintball. While Derek enjoyed these activities, he didn't like the idea of harming another living being, so he often stayed away from his dad's offers to go hunting. The whole family often went camping and Derek learned basic survival skills from his dad. When his dad was away on hunting trips, his mother would show him more domestic tasks, such as sewing. She would tell him stories during their crafting sessions, and he loved listening to her talk.
One night, Derek and his dad were coming home pretty late, and it was snowing, the roads taking on a bit of ice. His dad lost control of the car and they rolled, damaging the car very badly and breaking Derek's leg. His father hadn't survived the crash, and it caused Derek to spiral into a deep depression. His mother took him to therapy, and he was put on antidepressants, but his mom felt that they needed a new start. A year after his dad's death, they moved to Telluride, meeting with their neighbors and settling into their new home. Derek found an old music box in his closet as they were unpacking, and opened it, getting possessed by a demon named Kaer. She implanted thoughts in his head, talking him into acting on his impulses, and taking over his body occasionally. The thoughts kept getting worse and worse, going from stealing little things to murder within a few months. When Derek refused to listen to her urges, she took over his body, beating his mother close to death. When Derek regained control, he threw up a small amount of black goop, wiping his face and looking horrified at his mom. He called an ambulance, put it on speaker, and ran, grabbing a bit of food and some clothes before running out the back door and trying to avoid the worried neighbors.
